The Integration Of Windows XP Service Pack 2

We now have to integrate the Windows XP Service Pack 2 files with the contents of the XPCD folder and to do this a command will have to be run. The name of the Windows XP Service Pack 2 executable in this guide is referred to as XPSP2. The name of the executable does not matter but you must type the name of this within the command that has to be run. So substitute the name of XPSP2.exe with your files own name.

C:\XPSP2.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD

Click on Start, Run and type: C:\XPSP2.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD

The /integrate switch tells the service pack file to integrate with the folder at the root of the C: drive.

Please ensure the location of XPSP2.exe and the XPCD folder are specified in the above command. For example if XPSP2.exe is located in My Documents the command will be: [for Windows XP]

C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My Documents\XPSP2.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD

Extract

Extracting Files

All of the important files will first have to be extracted to a temporary location such as C:\[random folder name] and within this folder will be the Service Pack 2 files needed for the integration.

Temporary Folder This temporary folder will be deleted once the integration has completed.

Updating Updating Your Windows Share

Now all of the files within the temporary folder will be be integrated with the XPCD folder. This is where all of the files will be updated.

Service Pack 2 Setup

You should then be prompted when the integrated install is successful.

Click OK to finish.
